Spring 2021 Couture
Kate Barton’s Spring 2021 Couture collection is inspired by her best friend Claire who passed away at just twenty-four last year from Cystic Fibrosis. Kate’s goal is to honor her by raising awareness for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, as she strives to give a deeper meaning to my garments – focusing on creating womenswear that is both sculptural and innovative while still being wearable and empowering. To reflect this concept throughout the collection, Kate included the foundation’s symbol of the rose, the color purple, a 3D lung neckpiece, and personal elements and written messages from Claire. Kate aspires to build a brand that gives back to organizations in need, by focusing on not only advocating for awareness, but also making a change within a community.

Raising Awareness
ACRYLIC LUNG
NECKPIECE
Kate Barton strives to raise awareness for Cystic Fibrosis through this collection. She designed this mirror lung neckpiece to reflect the strength and beauty those with this disease embody. Using acrylic sheet, laser cutting technology, and heat, Kate transformed this conceptual idea into an ethereal, sculptured, wearable, piece of art.

Accessories
Floating Rose Purse
Kate Barton’s idea behind this accessory art piece was to encapsulate the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation’s symbol of the rose. The Floating Rose Purse is designed with a laser cut acrylic handle engraved with awareness messages. Once launched for sale, a portion of the proceeds will go to the foundation to help them get one step closer to a cure.
